Druide Vodka

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

The Druide Mystical Vodka brand was developed by Soulman Insightful Thinking, a Madrid based agency specialising in branding which was appointed by González Byass to create a brand for ultra-premium Vodka; a growing segment currently led by the French brand Grey Goose. The graphics design elements and production control were handled extensively by Kleijn in Barcelona – who employed me to provide a detailed design study and assessment of the closure engineering. The output: a premium retail solution for the bottle and closure design to visually reinforce the ‘ancient, mystical, Celtic...

Stalson faucets

Monday, November 7, 2011

I was commissioned by Fordingham Ltd – a Hong Kong based luxury brand production company – to provide a market assessment and feasibility for the launch of a new range of stainless steel taps. A key niche was identified within the very crowded bathroom and kitchen marketplace, a need for a better design led approach that would also espouse the benefits of the more costly stainless steel – whilst maintaining affordable price points. Unlike traditional chrome plated brass, stainless steel does not fade or scratch with age and is made 100% recyclable. On average, 40-60% of the world’s...

Modena ‘Transformer’ Faucet

Monday, November 7, 2011

Stålson Modena prototype faucet – under development. The Italian town of Modena is known as the “capital of engines”, since the factories of Lamborghini, Ferrari and Maserati are all here. Made from 100% stainless steel, the Modena faucet is a thoroughly modernist creation – its acute angles, flat planes and fast lines reflect the light dynamic ways, evoking a 3 dimensional cubist sculpture or stealth aircraft. A feature of the design is revealed when you lift the arms to turn the water on – as the arms raise, the configuration of the faucet changes: the flat machined...

Signal Pod

Sunday, November 6, 2011

Allegro Electronics Ltd. are a Hong Kong based manufacturing company. In 2011 they developed a wireless bicycle signalling and safety system that would clip easily onto the rear of a bike, with the left/right and hazard warning light controls mounted on the handlebars. I worked with Allegro to initially to carry out a market assessment, looking into market positioning, price, competitive products, retail and wholesale opportunities; and following this, devised a new product and brand name for the system that was suited for the market it was being sold into. Following the market assessment, I developed...

Urban & Country Leisure

Urban & Country Leisure (UCL) are a pub & restaurant business operating an expanding portfolio of individually branded establishments.  Although each pub has a strong individual identity, the parent company UCL, lacked clear brand definition which could effectively communicate its passions, its aspirations and personality. Following a structural review of the organisation, supported by interviews with staff members at all levels, suppliers, industry journalists etc. – to build  a picture of the business’s people, its dreams, its structure – a brief was distilled that...

SuperFish™ Ready to Leap

Thursday, April 29, 2010

The business of fish can be slippery and confusing. For the consumer, it is difficult to know how fresh the seafood they buy really is, and where it has come from. With a decrease in good fishmongers in the marketplace, and an increase in consumer awareness of overfishing, transport miles and CO2 reduction; there is a growing need for an ethical, sustainably sourced, super fresh fish retailer. Hampshire based SuperFish™  will focus on providing complete traceability in the produce it sells by working with the best suppliers, who use computer tracing technology to identify each species, the...

Goude Portfolio Updated

Tuesday, April 20, 2010

It’s taken a while but I’ve finally managed to reformat my portfolio into something I’m reasonably happy with.  I think it’s particularly difficult when you’re presenting your own work as opposed to something for a client. I suppose this is partly due to the fact that with your portfolio, you’re going over old ground, whereas working for a client – you’re generally working on something new. It’s far quicker and more stimulating forging ahead with new ideas. Having said this, at least I now have a portfolio format that I can update quickly and easily. My old flash based back-catalogue...

You know the problem – you’re trying to get the last dregs of shampoo from the bottle so you prop it up in the corner of the shower – annoyingly, it keeps falling over. Or you want those last drops of ketchup before you throw the bottle in the bin. Hedstand ™ is a new product and brand by goude, designed to get all your last bits of sauce, shampoo, creams, oils and anything else that come in bottles or tubes. Made from a simple one piece mold, the coloured acrylic Hedstand™ will be sold in both kitchen and bathroom retail outlets, in packaging tailored for each market.  The various...

Anyone for tennis websites?

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Odiham Tennis Club in Hampshire (www.odihamtennisclub.org.uk) is a growing community of regular tennis players of all age groups and abilities. The club, which was reopened by Tim Henman after extensive renovation in 2008, has almost 200 members and with possible expansion of the club to include an extra court, the managing committee decided an upgrade of their existing web site was required – to help them communicate more effectively with existing members and promote the club to potential new members. A key requirement was to provide the club with a site that they could maintain and update...
